Hootsuite vs. Social Oomph – which is better?
Since the introduction of Social Oomph and Hoot suite there has been a huge debate on which one is better than they other and which one ” should I use” is what I hear time and time again. Does anyone really know if one is better than the other, maybe, maybe not, but I know that I have a few points that will help turn up this debate, a few pointers that I am going to share with you today!
Both programs have been primarily been built to manage Twitter but Hoot suite will help manage your Face book, Linked In and ping.fm accounts and also has its own Iphone app. On the other hand Social Oomph helps manage Face book, ping.fm and has a Blackberry app you can download from the Black Berry App World called Snaptu, which does look great. While Hoot suite and Social Oomph both have free versions, Social Oomph does have an upgradable option that is free for a short time and then its 29.97 a month which gives you many features and ability to automate like no other.
During my comparisons and testing and tweaking each program I have found that I do like and can manage the Social Oomph program better for following and unfollowing other people, although the end result for both programs are the exactly the same.
Features Of Hootsuite
a. How about free – I like that!
b. Beautiful Layout – lots of eye candy and the ability to make many adjustments
c. Twitt sphere – this neat program allows you to track conversations based on key words you pick
d. Follow different niches, groups or even stop following them quite easily
e. Grouping – allows you to group “like” people together i.e. family, friends, famous people, clubs or groups of people
f. Never forget an Blog update – you have the ability to automate a tweet every time you update your blog – saves time and keeps content fresh on Twitter for you
g. Ow.ly – this is a feature that reduces your url down so you can get more of the relevant information on Twitter as they only allow 140 characters at a time per tweet
Social Oomph Features
A. Auto Reply – great feature that sends a reply automatically to a new person that starts to follow you which saves you time and starts building that relationship with others
B. Daily digest of replies – this allows you to save so much time – anyone that replied to you or your tweet can be found very quickly – just think of how much time it would take to go through a thousand emails looking for one –
C. Automatically Follow or Unfollow People – what a great feature – since you can only follow up to ten percent of the difference on Twitter vs. your followers – you do not want to follow a bunch of people that are not following you – this helps keep the difference within ten percent as laid out in the rules provided by Twitter.
D. Vetting – this allows you to follow whoever you want manually
E. Grouping – just like Hoot suite you can group people together
While both of these programs offer so many more options, my opinion is that these two programs complement each other. From Social Oomphs awesome automation abilities to Hoot suite’s customization, tracking and user friendly features, they are both great programs.
Try using both for 30 days and see how that helps!
Remember both have free options and both have paid versions – try out the free first and then make a choice, but making no choice and not trying either just wasted my time and yours !
