The Network Marketing ‘Head’ Game
I was sitting down to write an article and wondering what to write about. I decided to write about an experience I had in my life that not only changed my life, but significantly impacted my network marketing career. Looking back on it, I have determined that life is so dependent on where you are in your head and where you will go. Hang with me here and read on.
After I had left my job working for a network marketing company and started my own MLM business, I was excited to get cracking on building my huge, worldwide organization and couldn’t wait to earn $100K/month! ‘Boy, would life be different!’ I’ve mentioned before that it was a tough reality to face. I had taught network marketing principles for my employed company and coached distributors on how to build their organizations. I will say, that teaching (or preaching) from books read is VERY different from actually DOING the activities. It was such an eye-opener.
When I started my MLM business, I was in a great place mentally. As I mentioned, I had been reading pretty religiously and loved the self-development piece. I just hadn’t developed my skills yet. When I’d face a challenge in building my business, I’d go looking for an answer. I continued to go to networking events and joined recreational groups to expand my network. During one of these meetings, I met my friend Judith who was also a fellow-network marketer. She invited me to meet her business coach, Jeffrey Combs, and attend a one-day seminar he was conducting.
I had no idea who this guy was, but Judith spoke very highly of him as her coach so I was intrigued. I went to San Diego for his training and was BLOWN away be what he was teaching. I ended up hiring him as my coach and part of the coaching included a ‘Breakthroughs to Success’ 2 1/2 day seminar.
This seminar will be a future article, altogether, but what I will say, is that is was absolutely life-changing in MANY ways! It was the first experience I have ever had with something being so life-changing. You see, I had had some very big hurdles hit me the prior year personally. They rocked my world and threw me into a tailspin. It was a HORRIBLE life experience that set in to motion some of the most positive things that have come to me in the last year.
How did this happen? How did a horrible life experience land me in one of the best places I’ve ever been? When my life was turned upside down, I had to really delve into what got me there. I realized that decisions I had made, and the emotions left over from past life-events had gotten me there. I had created this situation, but what I realized was that I had the power to create this situation, but I also had the power to create future, positive situations. I now understood the power of our thoughts, our actions and our results!
I now understood how powerful the mind can be. I learned to forgive, to move forward and turn the rest of my life into MY life. I had the control on my thoughts, which then lead to my actions. I had an opportunity for a couple of years to move my family out West. I chose not to do it because of the people I’d hurt by leaving my town. Two months after coming to my realization, we packed up and moved West. We moved ultimately for the betterment of my family, but ultimately it was for ME. Six months later, I had decided to leave a job that was making me miserable. I made MAJOR decisions in order to get control back in my life. I no longer used the ‘What if…’ scenario…i.e. ‘What if I don’t like California,’ ‘What if I quit my job and I can’t make it work as a Network Marketer?’ ‘What if….’
The ‘What if’s’ had to go because what I realized was that when I controlled my actions, I controlled the outcomes. I believe that I will be a network marketing phenomenon, I believe that California is the place for me. There is no place for ‘What ifs.’ I will find the correct path no matter what.
I haven’t reached all my goals yet, but I’m working positively towards them. As I’ve taken this journey, I have me the people I needed to meet in order to move me forward in my career. When I’m experiencing a challenge, I always find the solution I need because I expect it. It has been so amazing to see how all this works and I wish EVERYONE was realize this. I know, however, most won’t. It’s a sad reality.
My life and my attitude are SO changed now. I see this incredible future that so few will ever experience because they will never get it. Their thoughts won’t let them. So, now, my thinking is to only attract people into my business that ‘get it.’ Because these are the ones that will do whatever it takes. They may not be instant producers or instant success stories, but they will stick with it because they have no doubts that they will be top producers. I want to work with only those who don’t dwell on the negatives and the challenges. They see the challenges as learning experiences and know that this journey wouldn’t be right without them! Those are the people I have attracted and will continue to attract because my head will allow nothing else! If you’ve stuck in long enough into this article and are still reading.
